One thing about this rally is to brush up on the movie (2nd one) for a better chance at the questions and challenges along the way..  You'll find that it helps!

I've been trying to access the website for this to get more info but it seems like it's not working. I'm interested in attending this event. This movie was what really made me want a MINI and helping the charity as well will be nice.

Website for this event is back up.  GoDaddy.com was doing some maintenance on their server. Should be working now.  icon_thumright

Yes, I agree with Shelby. While the track layout was great, the karts were uneven. We still had fun, but it will be nice if they take care of the karts doing the appropriate maintenance. It was a close race between Shelby and me. Congrats to Derrick for making it to the "top of the week" times.  icon_thumright

Here are the times:

Race 1   Race 2   Race 3   Best Avg.   Pts

Juan Ricart         26.431   26.311   26.228   26.270      6

It was a small turnout for Karting in Ontario.  The karts were very uneven and some in pretty bad shape.  (Roll bar coming off of Juan's kart, Shelby driving with NO brakes in another.  Kart changes seemed to be the order of the day!  When the luck of the draw did provide you with a good kart, you knew it. In the 3rd race, I started in a  kart that had NO brakes, then was switched into another kart that was 2.7 seconds faster per lap.

No one was able to keep up with Derrick, but in the 1st race we had the most consistent karts while the 4 of us had to navigate around another 4 slower racers. Juan beat me by .001 seconds in that race!  Talk about close times!  But, as we came to find out, that was a pretty lucky thing to happen.  The 2nd race, Juan needed to switch Karts twice because both his karts were falling apart and my kart was over 1 second slower then the kart in the 1st race!

Mike G showed great improvement from 1st race to 3rd race recording 2.5 second better lap times.
Derrick placed 4th for the overall 'Best of the Week" at the track with a 25.131 time (best was 24.767).

See you all at the car show next month  wave

Hey Lisa & Go-Kart Racers,

Several years ago we had an interesting race on the long over & under track at Go-Kart World in Carson......

This event was a 1 hour enduro... There were 6 karts with 3 drivers per kart. You could do driver changes in 10 minute intervals or run a straight 20 minutes each. I think we all ran 20 minute stints. I was teamed with Randy Terwilliger and another guy no longer in the club and it was a blast.

The track supplied pit crews to assist with the driver changes.  So we had 18 participants in the 3 man teams....... we could probably get even more and have 7 or 8 karts today.

This could be a no-points event or an all-star event just for bragging rights and a little trophy.

People would get together to make up their team on their own and give it a name and come racing.

We could work on that as a separate event but I thought our own karting group might also want to put it together. ..... What do you think..??
The 4 of us who who went Karting in Ontario yesterday on 5/18/13 discussed this again and everyone was up for this challenge.  So you can count on 1-Derrick, 2- Juan 3- Mike G & 4- Shelby.  Who else wants to do this event???
